Abstract In 2003, Reuther archivist Carrolyn Davis interviewed labor leader William "Bill" Burrus. Burrus served as vice president (1980-2001) and president (2001-2010) of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU), and he was the first African American to be directly elected by member vote to the presidency of a national labor union.
