History
As the result of a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) sponsored
election, Local 53 replaced Federal Local 23628 on 15 May 1958 as the union representing the workers at Automatic Division of Yale and Towne Industries. Local 53 adopted an active role in company-worker relations contrary to previous policies of Local 23628. The Union maintained this militant stance throughout the period covered by these papers.
