Scope and Content

Collection consists of interview transcripts and audio cassettes. Interviewees discuss their own backgrounds and involvement with AFSCME and their association with and recollections of Jerry Wurf.
The following participants were interviewed: Joseph “Joe” Ames, Al Bilik, Victor Gotbaum, William Hamilton (a copy in the third person from the book manuscript draft), Leamon Hood, William Lucy, Donovan McClure, Gerald McEntee, Senator George McGovern, Ernest Rewolinski, Al Wurf, Jerry Wurf, and Mildred Wurf. Transcripts exist for all except the William Lucy, Jerry Wurf, and Mildred Wurf interviews. Additional tapes include speeches by Jerry Wurf, debate between Jerry Wurf and Strom Thurmond, an NPR obituary, and a memorial for Jerry Wurf held at Rutgers.
