History

The AFSCME Business Office historically has handled financial matters for the union, and its activities are largely reported on by the Office of the Secretary-Treasurer. For a time, it was involved in the planning of the AFSCME biennial convention, as well as the numerous other, smaller meetings and conferences that AFSCME hosts throughout the year. Its name as of 2013 was the Financial Services Department, which includes Accounting, Auditing, and Benefits.

Folders are arranged alphabetically.

Acquisition

This collection arrived in three shipments, one in the mid-1970s, one in 1977, and one in 1992. The Business Office no longer sends records to the Reuther Library, but the Reuther remains the official repository for other departments at AFSCME International.
