Society of Women Engineers StoryCorps Oral Histories
Collection
Identifier: LOH002110
Scope and Content
Participants in the SWE Storycorps interviews discuss such topics as their education and work experiences, career influences, friendships, involvement in the Society of Women Engineers, and thoughts on women in engineering, including ideas and initiatives for recruiting women and minorities, obstacles facing women, and the future of women in the profession. The 14 oral history interviews each include recordings, transcripts, and images of interviewees.
Interviews were conducted in conversation with the following individuals: Mary Anderson-Rowland; Elizabeth Bierman and Allison Pedersen (interviewed together); Margo Bubb and Stacey DelVecchio (interviewed together); Yvonne Young Clark and Carol Yvonne Lawson (interviewed together); Margaret Hickel and Katie Peterson (interviewed together); Patricia Law and Christine Law (interviewed together); Anne Lucietto and Diane Peters (interviewed together); Ledo Lucietto and Anne Lucietto (interviewed together); Gail Mattson and Margaret Peggy Layne (interviewed together); James Porter and Deborah Grubbe (interviewed together); Sandra Scanlon and Jill Tietjen; Kristy Schloss (interviewed together); Frances Scholl and Aubree Osborne (interviewed together); Pamela Strong and Phyllis Gaylard (interviewed together); Renee Weisman, Bernice Brody, and Marge Inden (interviewed together).
In the StoryCorps format, interviews are conducted in conversations of two or more participants, thus there is often no clear line between interviewer and interviewee. Some of the interviews were conducted by SWE Archivist Troy Eller English. The rest of the interviews took place between SWE members or SWE members and their family members.
